It wouldn’t be the holiday season without a variety of events to enjoy, and coastal North Carolina certainly doesn’t disappoint in 2019! One of the things the Michelle Clark Team loves most about this time of year is all of the cheer and community involvement. These are just a few events you and your family might want to check out before you head home to hang those stockings.
The Nutcracker: NY Ballet for Young Audiences
December 6 – 7, 2019
The infamous Nutcracker Ballet is the epitome of the holiday season. Sugar Plum Fairies, Rat Kings, a prince, and a toymaker make this performance a must-see, and one you won’t soon forget. This showstopper sells out quickly, so plan ahead to create wonderful holiday memories with all the tiny dancers in your life.
Old Wilmington by Candlelight Tour

One of the best qualities of Wilmington is its rich history. Experience what it was like to be a Wilmingtonian during the holidays in 1973 with this two-day event. Usher in the holiday season with a festive tour of private homes, churches and historical sites in our beloved Historic Downtown. Be sure to cast your vote for best gingerbread house during the Old Wilmington by Gingerbread House competition at the Latimer House and enjoy this uniquely Wilmington event.
Polar Express Day

The Children’s Museum of Wilmington invites you and the whole family to take part in Polar Express Day, occurring two Saturdays in the month of December! This festive celebration of a classic tale includes warm drinks, arts and crafts, storytime, and of course, enchanted train rides filled with lots of holiday magic.
A Merry Little Christmas Festival
December 6-15, 2019
Join Poplar Grove Plantation’s beautiful grounds glowing with hundreds of twinkling lights for the Merry Little Christmas Festival. Get in the holiday spirit as the Plantation will be bustling with fun activities for the whole family, including Santa’s Workshop, a mailbox for posting those important letters, outdoor Christmas movie classics, as well as food trucks and concessions. Friday and Saturday nights, enjoy the Guided Candlelight Tours of the Manor House beginning on the hour starting at 5:00 p.m.

Discover your inner-elf with Elf – A Christmas Musical at Thalian Hall. This hilarious tale and modern-day Christmas classic is sure to warm your heart and bring in the Holiday Spirit for the whole family.

Get into the holiday spirit and bring the whole family to visit Santa’s Workshop at Mayfair for fun-filled memories and professional photos. Make your Christmas tree selection a family tradition with the “Tree Farm” complete with a large selection of trees, wreaths, and plenty of helping elves on hand!
Mayfaire has also created a sensory-friendly environment that offers children with special needs the opportunity to meet and have their photo taken with Santa in a low stress, quiet environment. There are also free holiday shows featuring Santa, a ballet, girls and boys choir performances, and other holiday presentations.
